Production Process
A Triceratops at 1.8 m puts the frill at adult eye level. That is the entire proposition of this build: not a monument you look up at, but an animal you meet face to face, with the horns close enough to count.
SKU YKL-054: four metres long, 1.1 m across the body, 1.8 m to the top of the frill. The smallest horned animal we build.
Small enough for indoors
At four metres and 1.8 m tall this is the horned dinosaur that fits through a double door, under a retail ceiling, and into a floor plan without eating the circulation space. That combination is why it gets bought for shopping centres, hotel lobbies and museum entrance halls rather than trails.
It also travels well: the sections fit standard crates and the body section can be moved by two people with a pallet truck. For a retail campaign that moves between sites, that matters more than the length.
Where the frill sits
The frill is the animal's signature, and at 1.8 m it is the part visitors look at from a metre away. We sculpt the frill edge as a raised rim rather than a painted line, keep the horn cores slightly darker than the skin, and build the brow horns heavy enough to cast a shadow — the details that read as structure rather than as decoration.
The beak is worth getting right too. A Triceratops without a defined beak looks like a generic armoured head; the hooked upper jaw is what makes it a herbivore at a glance.
Five movement groups
Head left and right, neck up and down, jaw open and close with a call, blinking eyes, tail sweep. No forearm group — the forelimbs are short and carried low, and animating them adds a hinge without adding character.
On a low animal the eyes and the head turn do the work. A Triceratops that turns its head to follow a shopper walking past is the moment people stop; a fast, repetitive head sweep reads as a machine. Long dwell, slow travel, and a blink interval short enough to be noticed.
Where it works
Retail and mall campaigns. Fits a concourse, sits beside a photo point, and moves between sites.
Hotel and resort lobbies. The height suits a lobby without needing a void above it.
Children's areas. The frill is at child height, which makes it the most photographed animal in a family exhibit — keep the barrier at a metre and the sound low.
Finish and delivery
Welded Q235 steel frame with anti-rust treatment, foam volume, silicone five to seven millimetres, translucent layered colour. Common finishes run from a warm ochre with a paler frill face to a cooler grey-green for museum settings; pattern, posture and colour are made to order.
Rated −25 °C to 45 °C, 110 V or 220 V configured at build. Ships in sections with base frame, control cabinet, sound system, wiring diagram and calibration sheet. Freight, duties, certificates and installation are quoted separately from the product price.
Frill colour, and what it does to a room
The frill is a large flat surface, which makes it the part of the model that colour decisions actually change. A warm ochre frill with a paler face reads as display colouring and warms a cool retail interior; a grey-green frill with darker edges reads as museum reconstruction and disappears into a stone or concrete setting.
Send a photo of the room rather than a colour reference. The palette that works in a white gallery is the wrong one in a black-and-warm-lit shopping centre, and it is easier to adjust the mix before the skin is finished than to repaint a frill afterwards.
Enquiry
Send the floor plan and tell us whether the animal stays in one place or moves between sites. If it moves, ask about a wheeled base — it changes the frame design and is much cheaper to specify at build.
Where to go next
Worth reading before you commit: the spare parts and repair kit list for how the sizes compare, the size guide covering 3 m to 12 m builds for what the ground has to carry, and the rental cost breakdown for where the money actually goes.
For ideas on placing it, see what shipping a large animal involves. The rest of the range is on animatronic dinosaurs, and if this one is the wrong size for the slot, animatronic raptor for jurassic theme parks is the closest alternative.
