Production Process
The crest is what makes a Parasaurolophus recognisable, so that is the part we enlarged. This unit is a cartoon reading of the animal rather than a museum reconstruction: a rounded skull, the crest swept back in glossed orange-red, eyes made deliberately large, the mouth left slightly open. The body carries an ironed scale texture under a silicone skin, silver-white with a warm wash across the back, pink toes and a green saddle pad.
Underneath it is a 24V ride-on car. A 350W brushless motor sits on the right rear wheel, two 12V 20Ah batteries run in series, and the load rating is 150 kg. Sessions are set anywhere from 1 to 99 minutes, and the car starts from either a coin acceptor or a remote handset.
What the cartoon treatment involves
The crest is enlarged and glossed, so it catches light and reads as colour at a distance rather than as a shape.
The eyes are deliberately oversized, with a white sclera and a highlight point. That is what gives the face an expression from ten metres away.
Scales are ironed into the shell before the silicone skin goes on, so the texture has depth instead of being printed on.
The orange-to-silver fade is layered in paint. Toes are finished separately in pink and the saddle pad in green, which keeps the unit from disappearing into a grey floor in photographs.
Steering is by handlebar with orange grips, running on six sealed bearings.
Coin or remote, both fitted
An unattended site runs on coins: the rider buys a token, drops it in, the timer starts and the car stops itself at the end of the session. An attended site uses the remote: staff press once to start, and can shorten a session when a queue builds.
Both are installed on the same car and either one will start it. Default session length and speed limit are set to your site before the unit ships.
Session length, speed and music
Session length is adjustable from 1 to 99 minutes. Speed is adjustable from 1 to 10 km/h; on polished mall tile we set them at 3–5 km/h. Background music plays from an SD card, so a new playlist is a matter of copying files across in order — including music written for your own project or theme.
Battery and charging
The pack is 24V 20Ah, made of two 12V 20Ah lead-acid batteries in series. A full charge runs the car for 5–6 hours continuously, and recharging from empty takes 6–8 hours on the supplied 24V 20Ah high-current charger.
Where the operating day is long, a second pack is worth holding: swapping takes minutes, waiting for a charge takes most of a morning.
Service: five minutes to a decision
The integrated controller sits under the belly of the dinosaur and monitors pack voltage and motor faults. Most problems are identified within five minutes of opening it up. If the fault does not show, the controller is replaced as a unit: four screws and three harness plugs, with no need to open the shell.
The three driven wheels are PU, 120mm in diameter and 45mm thick, which is what gives them their wear life. The drive wheel is the right rear. Steering runs on six sealed dust-proof bearings, so the bars stay light and the play stays out of the linkage.
Load, footprint, moving it
The load rating is 150 kg, which covers an adult carrying a child on the same seat. Overall size is 1.5–1.8m long, 0.55m wide and 1.0–1.5m high; the unit weighs 45 kg, so two people can lift it and it fits in a van.
How it is built
Steel frame welded to drawing
Motor mounted on the rear axle
Wiring and electrical layout
Foam built up over the frame
Shape carved
Scale texture ironed in
Silicone skin applied
Paint and colour layers
Where it works
Children's playgrounds, theme parks, shopping plazas and small parks — anywhere with a flat run of tile, concrete or rubber track. Grass, slopes and steps are not what this unit is built for.
The money side
The usual pattern is a five-minute session at 5–15 USD a ride. As an example: at 10 USD a ride, thirty rides on a Saturday afternoon is 300 USD in the till.
What the site actually returns depends on footfall, where the unit sits and what the local market pays. A second car usually does better than a longer session, and the second unit is quoted against the configuration of the first.
Questions operators ask
How long does a charge last?
5–6 hours of continuous running, with 6–8 hours to recharge from empty. A spare pack covers a long day.
Can one child ride it alone?
Yes — the load rating is 150 kg and the seat is sized for a child. An adult with a child also fits. Riding rules are set by your site and your local regulations.
Do I need both coin and remote?
Both are fitted. Coin suits an unattended location, remote suits a staffed one, and either will start the car.
Can the music be changed?
Yes. Copy files onto the SD card in the order you want them and insert it. Project-specific music works the same way.
What happens if it stops?
The controller reports voltage and motor faults, and most faults are located within five minutes. If not, the controller swaps out with four screws and three plugs. Tyres, bumper strip, seat cover and one spare pack cover almost every interruption.
Still deciding?
If you are not sure whether this unit suits your floor, the run you have available, or the local rules on ride-on attractions, send a few photos or a short video of the site. We will give you a first read on the setup and on what would need to change, then settle the configuration together.
This car sits in our dinosaur electric car range, alongside the larger ride-on dinosaurs used in parks and zoos. Tell us the venue type and surface in the quotation form and we will size the unit to it.
