Production Process
This is the Chinese reading of a dragon rather than the western one: a red body with a gold scale pattern across the head and neck, paired horns swept back, a short snout with a wide friendly mouth, and a printed saddle band in green and blue over the back.
It reads rounder and heavier than the western dragon in the range. That is a difference in the shell rather than the machine: both run the same chassis. The running gear is the same 24V platform used across these ride-on units: 350W brushless motor, two 12V 20Ah batteries in series, 150 kg load, 5–6 hours per charge, sessions from 1 to 99 minutes.
Where the red comes from
The colour is not decoration. Lunar New Year windows, temple fairs and spring promotions are when a red dragon earns its keep in a mall, and a red unit can be pushed to the front of a display without a repaint. The gold scale pattern is painted in layers over the red, so the sheen survives cleaning rather than sitting on the surface as a decal.
Outside the season it still works as a general ride: the shape reads as a friendly character rather than as a festival prop, and it does not look out of place in a family entertainment centre in July.
The seat and the bar
The saddle band sits over the spine and can be replaced when it wears. The bar is mounted ahead of the seat at chest height, with grips on both ends, and the footrests are moulded into the body below.
Body length is short enough to turn inside a shop-unit aisle.
The horns are moulded into the head, not bolted on, so they do not work loose.
The eyes are oversized with a gold ring around the pupil, which is what carries the expression in photographs.
Starting a ride
A coin acceptor handles unattended sites; a remote handset handles staffed ones. Both are installed on the same car and either will start it. Where the site is busy, the attendant can cut a session short and let the next child on.
Time, speed, sound
Session length runs 1–99 minutes and speed 1–10 km/h, with 3–5 km/h as the indoor setting. Music is read from an SD card in file order, which makes seasonal music a card swap rather than a firmware job.
Power
24V 20Ah from two 12V 20Ah lead-acid batteries in series, on the supplied 24V 20Ah high-current charger. Running time is 5–6 hours per charge; a full recharge takes 6–8 hours.
Servicing
Under the belly sits one integrated controller with pack-voltage and motor-fault detection. Faults are usually pinned down inside five minutes; when the controller is the fault, it comes out as a unit — four screws and three plugs.
The right rear wheel drives; the other three are PU idlers measuring 120mm by 45mm. Steering turns on six sealed bearings.
Footprint
1.5–1.8m long, 0.55m wide, 1.0–1.5m high, 45 kg. It lifts between two people and travels in a van.
How it is put together
Frame welded to drawing
Drive fitted
Wiring routed
Foam shaped
Head, horns and scale pattern carved
Texture ironed in
Silicone skin applied
Red base, gold scales, saddle band
Where it sells rides
Malls, playgrounds, theme parks and small parks with flat floors. Seasonal events are the obvious use: a red unit at a New Year display, then back to normal trading afterwards.
Numbers
A five-minute ride at 5–15 USD is the standard pattern. Ten dollars and thirty rides over an afternoon comes to 300 USD; what a site actually takes depends on footfall and pricing.
Asked often
Is this the same as the western dragon?
Different shell on the same chassis. This one is the Chinese form — red body, gold scales, paired horns.
Can it run outdoors?
On flat hard surfaces, yes. Grass, slopes and steps are not what it is built for.
How long does a charge last?
5–6 hours of running, 6–8 hours to recharge. A spare pack covers a long day.
Will it carry an adult?
150 kg rating. An adult with a child fits; riding rules are set by the site.
Can we change the music for the season?
Yes. Copy the files to the SD card in order and swap the card.
Before you order
Send a photo of the floor and the length of run you have, and we will say what to change and how the unit would be set. Seasonal orders are worth planning against the date you need the unit on the floor.
It belongs with the dinosaur and animal electric car range and the larger ride-on units used in parks. Venue details go in the quotation form.
