The Carnotaurus earned its name from its meat - eating habits and its bull - like appearance. The most striking feature of this fearsome creature was undoubtedly the pair of short, robust horns situated above its eyes. Another notable characteristic was its incredibly short forelimbs, which seemed almost comically small when compared to its massive body.
Equipped with a powerful physique, sharp claws, and teeth like blades, the Carnotaurus was a formidable predator. Its skull was remarkably sturdy, and its neck muscles were impressively strong. However, its lower jaw was astonishingly fragile. A relatively small amount of force could shatter it. This led paleontologists to theorize that Carnotaurus likely avoided taking on large prey, as its weak lower jaw might not have been able to withstand the struggle.
